Canva Secrets Every Coach Needs to Know
As a coach, course creator, and content creator, I've found that the right tools can make all the difference in managing an efficient and successful business.
One tool I cannot do without is Canva. Throughout my journey, I've uncovered several tips and tricks that have made my use of Canva not only effective but also quite fun.
Let me take you behind the scenes and share these secrets with you.
Set Up for Success
The first piece of advice I want to give you is to download and install the desktop version. It allows you to keep your tabs open even if you close the app, which is a lifesaver for projects that span multiple work sessions. Many of my projects require several sittings, and having my work readily accessible when I jump back in makes my workflow much smoother.
Organize with Whiteboards
An innovation I love is using a whiteboard within Canva to organize my ideas and inspirations. I call it my "ideas and swipe file." Here, I store designs, social media posts, slides, and other elements that pique my interest. This setup allows me to have all my resources at a glance whenever I start a new project.
Use Brand Summaries
If you're using Canva's free version, you can create a brand summary to keep all your branding materials in one place. Keep it as one of the tabs you always have open. Then just copy your brand colors from the brand summary into your new project. All of those colors will show up as document colors on the top left when you click on colors.
Create Lead Magnets Effectively
One of the most invaluable uses of Canva for me is creating lead magnets. Instead of selecting complete Canva templates, which might include pages you don't need, I recommend starting with a custom-sized blank page. You can then add elements page by page as necessary.
Also, make sure to focus on layouts rather than colors or fonts when selecting designs, as these can easily be modified later to match your brand. Once you have your foundation, jump into customizing colors, fonts, and images to truly make the document your own, while keeping a cohesive design. Repurpose for Opt-In Pages
When creating a thumbnail for the opt-in page, it's easy to copy an entire page from your lead magnet as an image. Then, that image can be plopped into a mockup thumbnail. (see the video for how I do this).
Optimize Social Media Posts
A structured way to manage social media content is to maintain templates that include outros for multiple platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. This not only ensures a cohesive visual identity but also streamlines the creation process. The ability to save and repurpose these templates across different platforms adds a great layer of efficiency.
